Heating Your Home With a Conventional Gas Furnace

As a homeowner, it’s good to know at least some basics about whatever heating and cooling system you’ve installed. If you have a gas furnace in your home, here are some things to take note of from expert heating, cooling and plumbing services company, A-1 Comfort Care. This information will help you understand how your type of furnace works to provide you with a comfortable living space.

Thermostat

Everything starts with the thermostat. Your gas furnace is triggered to switch on once your indoor temperature drops below whatever level your thermostat is set to. An electric signal passes from the thermostat to the furnace, indicating the need for heat to start being generated.

Combustion Chamber

Gas is then introduced into a combustion chamber in your furnace. Inside the chamber, the gas mixes with air and is ignited, providing heat to the heat exchanger. Note that these parts need to be in good working condition at all times for heat to be efficiently produced and for toxic gases to be properly expelled. Make sure to have your furnace regularly maintained by a great heating and plumbing service provider like A-1 Comfort Care.

Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger, as its name suggests, facilitates heating cold air into warm air, which is then distributed throughout the house. When your home reaches its ideal temperature again, the heating process stops; that is, until your temperature drops again, at which point the heating cycle will once more commence.
